Petaluma Australian Legend

Petaluma has marked their 35 year anniversary with a celebration of legends at Est in Sydney.

With a reputation built upon crafting outstanding wines from three of Australia’s legendary wine regions; riesling from the Clare Valley, chardonnay and sparkling from the Adelaide Hills and cabernet sauvignon from Coonawarra, Petaluma is one of Australia’s leading wineries.

Taking the notion of ‘legend’ as their inspiration, Petaluma celebrated three and a half decades with twelve legends of the Australian hospitality industry.

Margaret Fulton was the guest of honour with legends including Martin Boetz, Longrain, David and Julie Blackmore, Blackmore Wagyu Beef, Leon Fink, The Fink Group, Peter Gilmore, Quay, John Hemmes, Merivale, Huon Hooke, huonhooke.com, Valli Little, delicious magazine, Damien Pignolet, Bistro Moncur, Beppi Polese, Beppis, Judy Sarris, Gourmet Traveller WINE and Brien Trippas, The Trippas White Group. The group were nominated as Petaluma Legends for their ongoing passion, innovation and enduring contribution to the industry.

Andrew Hardy, Petaluma’s chief winemaker has been involved with Petaluma since the early days with original founder, Brian Croser. At the legends event Andrew presented three vintages of Hanlin Hill Clare Valley Riesling, Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay and Coonawarra Cabernet. The wines were matched to dishes created by three star chefs from the Merivale group, Peter Doyle, Est, Lauren Murdoch, Felix and Dan Hong, Ms.G’s.

The lunch was designed to honour these legends in the industry who in varying ways have inspired Australian producers to reach for ever greater heights. “As a winemaker the cycle is only complete when you open a bottle and share it with other people and it was an honour to celebrate our 35 year milestone in the company of people we admire,” he said.

The event unveiled three new releases from Petaluma, 2011 Hanlin Hill Clare Valley Riesling, 2009 Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay and 2008 Coonawarra Cabernet blend.
